The (ACA) American Counseling Association and profession generally believes in the recovery from mental illness. This recovery model is different from mainstream medical models that manage the illness sometime for years, and with medication.
(EMDR) Eye Movement Desensitizing Reprocessing Therapy allows the brain to heal itself. Painful memories, side effects, and trauma can now be relieved with this evidence-based therapy.
Participants will learn with attachment therapy how their personality style learned in childhood affects emotional regulation and regulating problems.
Body Therapies with prayerful quieting exercises are also used to reduce anxiety and stress.
It is optional for participants to seek prayer and prophetic counseling with Dr. Boen during the sessions. Generally, 6 sessions are recommended. *Applicants are screened for suitability prior to services. Use of controlled substances, or psychotropic medications may not be a fit for immediate services. A follow-up self-management plan allows the healing to continue and end in a timely fashion.

Biography:
Dr. Linda Boen served as a Counselor Educator with her Ed.D. degree, Assistant Professor of the Master of Arts Clinical Counseling Department, School of Psychology, Alliant International University, Fresno, CA. She has also been a Counselor Educator for the University of Arkansas, Counselor Education Program, Fayetteville, Arkansas. She has taught and trained hundreds of psychotherapists across America. Her research interests include the recovery of severe mental illness. While serving as a Counseling Psychologist and Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist for Department of Veterans Affairs she received state and national awards for the rehabilitation of disabled and the severely mentally ill Veterans to recovery and working lives. Her groundbreaking research with Trauma and Body Therapy recovery methods is at the forefront of her career. She is also an Oblate of St. Benedict, St. Scholastica's Monastery, Ft. Smith, AR. Sacred Heart Counseling is a non-profit ministry.

Attachment theory describes the impact of emotional bonds between infants and caregivers that shape later relationships. The framework of these early attachments influences your personality type. The four known personality types are described as either: secure, anxious, avoidant, or disorganized. You will see how your personality style influences your ability to control behaviors at home, work, or in social relationships. Understanding current behavior and its causes can allow change. Finding freedom in Christ too can create lasting change.
